The main reason why people prefer having laptops is that they can carry them wherever they go. You can work while traveling or even on a holiday. The normal battery life of a regular laptop is not more than two hours. This can be such a letdown. Most would prefer a laptop that works for longer hours.



Obviously ICE are powered by kobalt minen the gasoline you buy when you fill up at a gas station. The electric motor/generator is powered by a large (and by large, I mean large and heavy) battery pack. Most hybrids on the road today have large Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery packs somewhere near the trunk, or under the seats. (Read about the Lexus Hybrid battery pack).

In the RC boats sale, you'll find models in a wide array of sizes. The smaller ones can be just a few inches in length, while the bigger ones can be positively gargantuan reaching up to several feet. The choice will depend on how and where you plan to use the boat. A little one will be fast and easy to carry lithium facts around but may not perform well on rough waters. A bigger, heavier one will need a powerful engine and will be difficult to move from place to place but it can handle a bit of turbulence much better. Most tournaments place restrictions on the weight and dimensions of entries so read up if you plan on joining any of them.

OThe first type of battery used in laptops was Nickel- Cadmium (NiCad). These can still be found in some older laptops. Their lifespan between recharges is about lithium bettery stock two hours however this decreases with each recharge. Also, if a NiCad laptop battery is charged for too long it may explode.

Briefly relating back to overall size... many lithium 18650's will differ ever so slightly in length (measured in millimeters). This is mainly due to an added protection circuit. The circuit helps to prevent the battery from over-discharging, since Li-ion cells can easily become damaged if their power is drained below a particular voltage. The protection circuit also prevents the cell from being over-CHARGED as well. These cells are very sensitive. They must be handled carefully, gently, and as described above, must never run-down too far, or be charged over and above their threshold. They can actually explode if severely mistreated!

Recharge the battery to full again and repeat the above steps a few more times. This will allow you to use the battery for a longer time and you can do this no more than once a month. Replacement batteries can be expensive and stretching out their use when you are on a budget can help.
